We are currently recruiting to fill the below position within our company.


Position:               Finance Manager

Role Type:           Permanent, Full Time

Location:              Elgin, Moray

Reports to:           Managing Director


The Finance Manager is a key member of the company’s management team. This is a wide-ranging role and requires a pro-active, hands-on approach that is balanced with the capability to provide the MD with business insight to support strategic planning and decision making. As Finance Manager, you will lead and motivate a small team with responsibility for overseeing end-to-end accounting and book-keeping processes, establishing and maintaining robust financial controls and ensuring all statutory reports and returns and controls are completed and filed as required by HMRC, Companies House etc. You will also manage external relationships with key partners including company auditors and tax advisers.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring robust and effective month-end and year-end cut-off processes and controls are in place and driving the continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting processes.
  • Delivery of a high-quality monthly management pack (to include reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts) along with insightful commentary for the senior management team
  • Dealing with working capital and FX management and production of cash flow forecasts for the MD
  • Managing and co-ordinating the year-end audit process and act as the main point of contact for external auditors.
  • Ensuring VAT / PAYE and other tax reporting and payments are made as per HMRC requirements
  • Oversee credit control to ensure credit risk is proactively managed
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager to report on factory performance and identify profit improvement opportunities

Person Profile

You will be a confident, commercially astute and technically capable accountant, ideally with a professional qualification (although we will consider QBE applicants with significant and extensive experience) and a successful track record in a similar role ideally in an engineering and manufacturing business.

You will have experience of using integrated ERP systems and cloud accounting software and understand the importance of sound processes and controls to ensure the integrity of the data they produce. Good MS Office skills – especially Excel – are also a requirement.

You will be able to develop and manage a high-performing team, ensuring workloads are balanced and the team are supported in developing the skills and knowledge they need to improve the performance of the finance function.

Above all, you will need to have a true business partnering mentality with the resilience to work effectively with colleagues from all disciplines in a well-established busy, internationally successful and growing business.

A competitive salary package commensurate with qualifications and experience and a generous holiday allowance.

Business hours are: Mon-Thu 8:00am – 5:00pm, Fri 8:00am – 2:00pm. We may be able to offer some level of flexibility to working hours depending on circumstances.
