Our Manufacturing Capabilities

The factory in Elgin covers an area of 60,000 sq. ft. of production space, and with cleanliness in mind, the final assembly areas have been finished with a special polyurethane coated floor. 

After final assembly all of our cylinders are subjected to a rigorous 100% test programme ensuring customer satisfaction. Our Ashington factory adds a further 15,000 sq. ft. of production space designed to cater for high volume manufacture.

Over 120,000 cylinders are produced annually on a single working shift pattern, ranging from 25 to 200mm in bore, and up to 3 metres in length.

Throughout our history Hendry Hydraulic Cylinders has always looked to the future of manufacturing, and adopted the latest innovations. The company now has over 50 high quality CNC machine tools, including the latest high tech robotic CNC machining cells. 

Investment in advanced robotic welding machines, ensuring tight control over the welding of tubes and rods – guaranteeing consistency and accuracy in the weld of our high volume product lines.

Wireless distribution of our CNC programmes direct to the machine tools, enabling the sharing of data amongst machines, and ensuring speed and accuracy in the distribution of programmes.

Hendry Hydraulics philosophy is to be in full control of its own manufacturing processes and needs – in order to be in the best position to furnish its customers’ needs. To that end, we’ve invested in our own Skiver Roller Burnishing machine, enabling us to provide a high quality surface finish to our tubes, with a range of bores from 40 to 170 millimetres, and up to three metres long. This process is essential  for industrial type cylinders that have weldments fitted to the cylinder tube. All weld distortion is removed by skiving and roller  burnishing. This standard of finish is essential for our customers with cylinders in high demand environments.

Painting of cylinders is offered to customers who want a fully finished cylinder ready to fit to their machine painted in their colours and paint specification.

The facility enables us to deliver an iron phosphorus wash, followed by a prime and or high quality gloss paint finish to the cylinder – ensuring that on receipt, you have a high quality finished cylinder, ready for assembly to your end product.
